New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani's Spanish-language video on how to handle Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents reached 7 million views on X on Friday.

In the post, Mamdani told residents that ICE cannot enter private spaces like homes, schools, or hospitals without a judicial warrant. He reminded viewers of their right to remain silent and offered practical tips for interactions, describing the current moment as "very frightening times for many people."

The message generated immediate pushback from conservative figures who argued the video encouraged obstruction of federal law. Rep. Brandon Gill of Texas noted that Mamdani became a citizen less than a decade ago and was now coaching residents in a foreign language on avoiding deportation. Actor Dean Cain, who previously played Superman in the 1990s, called the mayor "dangerous" and stated that anyone not here illegally has no reason to fear the agency.

Sen. Mike Lee of Utah criticized the video for not urging anyone to abide by U.S. laws, claiming it was not made for the benefit of the United States. Rep. Nancy Mace of South Carolina asserted that people present in the country illegally are not New Yorkers. Sen. Bernie Moreno of Ohio simply labeled the act "Treason."

Tomi Lahren, a Fox News commentator, posted that foreign born Democrats were instructing individuals on how to evade the law. Tom Fitton, president of Judicial Watch, called the statement "dangerous incitement full of disturbing falsehoods" and warned it could put lives in danger.

Mamdani's office has not yet responded to requests for comment from Fox News Digital. The mayor has long opposed the Trump administration's immigration agenda, calling for the abolition of ICE during his campaign. As mayor, he signed an executive order strengthening the city's sanctuary policies, which limits cooperation between city agencies and federal immigration authorities.

The executive order also directs city employees to protect personal information and establish specific protocols for handling ICE requests to access city property or records. It includes expanded "know your rights" materials for city workers. The new guide appears to be an extension of that administrative framework, aimed directly at the general public.
