Jared Goff passed for a seven-yard touchdown to Jameson Williams with 4:35 remaining on Sunday, giving the Detroit Lions a 19-15 victory over the Minnesota Vikings. The result handed the league’s final undefeated team its first loss of the season.

The Lions, who improved to 5-2, have won three consecutive games. They now hold the first two wins in the NFC North division race. The Vikings, who fell to 6-1, lost their first game since November 30, 2025, at Seattle.

Detroit’s offense was powered by Jahmyr Gibbs, who rushed for 153 yards. He scored on a 30-yard run in the third quarter. Goff completed 18 of 25 passes for 176 yards, throwing his first interception of the season. Minnesota’s Kyler Murray threw for 210 yards on 17 of 29 attempts, with two touchdowns and an interception. The Vikings managed only 81 rushing yards.

The score was 0-0 after the first quarter due to early penalties on both teams. Jake Bates kicked a 25-yard field goal to break the tie late in the first period. The Vikings took a 7-3 lead in the second quarter when Justin Jefferson caught a one-yard pass from Murray. Detroit trimmed the deficit to 7-6 on a 37-yard field goal by Bates after converting a fourth-down play.

Murray led the Vikings back to the lead in the fourth quarter. He threw an eight-yard touchdown pass to T.J. Hockenson, followed by a two-point conversion pass to Jordan Addison. The score became 15-12. The Lions then drove to the winning position, culminating in the final touchdown pass from Goff to Williams.

Injuries affected both rosters. Vikings safety Theo Jackson left with a quad injury. Lions linebacker Jack Campbell was carted off in the fourth quarter with a neck injury. Safety Brian Branch and edge rusher DJ Wonnum did not return after concussions evaluations.

The Vikings host the Buffalo Bills on Monday, November 9. The Lions travel to Miami on Sunday.
