Nicolas Jackson scored both goals for Aston Villa in a 2-1 victory over Manchester City at Villa Park on Saturday. The result ends Manchester City's seven-match winning streak in the Premier League. This marks the first league defeat of the season for the 10-time English champions.

Villa took a lead in the sixth minute. A heavy touch by Marc Guehi allowed Jackson to receive the ball. He cut inside Elliott Anderson and fired a high shot past Gianluigi Donnarumma. Manchester City controlled possession for much of the first half but faced resistance from Villa goalkeeper Zion Suzuki. Suzuki saved attempts from Iliman Ndiaye, Rayan Cherki, and Abdukodir Khusanov, while Ndiaye also struck the post.

Erling Haaland equalized for Manchester City in the 52nd minute. He powered in a header from a cross by Ndiaye. This goal was his 13th in 10 appearances this season. Josko Gvardiol had a chance to put City ahead moments later, but his drive hit the crossbar after a save by Suzuki.

Villa restored their lead in the 60th minute. Ibrahim Mbaye broke through the defense and crossed the ball. Jackson finished with a low shot that Donnarumma failed to stop. City pushed for an equalizer in the final minutes but could not find a way past Suzuki.

The win places Villa in sixth place and gives them six wins in their last seven matches across all competitions. The result also allows Arsenal to move level with Manchester City on points if they defeat Everton at home later on Saturday. For Villa, the victory validates the work of manager Unai Emery, who has rebuilt the squad after losing six starters from last season's Europa League team. The new signings, including Jackson, Suzuki, Mbaye, and Johan Manzambi, are performing effectively despite a slow start to the campaign.

Manchester City manager Enzo Maresca had become the first manager to win his opening seven Premier League matches with a new club. The team now has lost at Villa Park in each of the last four seasons. The match was overshadowed by the club's ongoing legal battle, as they appeal a guilty verdict on more than 100 charges of breaking financial rules between 2009 and 2018. Sanctions could include relegation, but defensive errors in the match proved costly for the visitors.
