James Dyson’s company went through 5,126 failed prototypes before launching its first bagless vacuum cleaner in 1993. More than three decades later, the British firm is applying that same iterative engineering approach to artificial intelligence and robotics.

Dyson opened a new flagship store at BIG FASHION Glilot, north of Tel Aviv, on November 1, 2026. The location serves as a demonstration space for the company’s latest hardware, which integrates computer vision, LiDAR, and advanced sensing systems. The store displays the Spot+Scrub AI robotic cleaner, the Airwrap Co, the Airsmooth hot air brush, and the CameraJet electric toothbrush.

Guy Turner, a design engineer on Dyson’s robotics team in Singapore, explained that the company focuses on household tasks that have not changed in decades. He stated that the engineering goal is to remove existing problems rather than creating new ones through complex technology.

"The goal is to remove problems, not make new ones," Turner said. "Dyson likes to find new ways to solve problems in products that haven’t seen change in a while."

The Spot+Scrub AI robot combines wet and dry cleaning functions with an HD front-facing camera, green LED illumination, LiDAR, and dual-laser sensing. According to Dyson, the unit can recognize nearly 200 household objects, including cables and socks, to navigate indoor environments. The device does not follow a fixed route. Instead, it detects specific dirty areas and continues scrubbing them until the sensor indicates the stain is gone.

Users control the robot through the MyDyson app, which allows for scheduled cleaning, map viewing, and targeted cleaning requests. Turner noted that the system allows the machine to understand its surroundings and respond without constant human intervention.

The company is also bringing AI to personal care with the CameraJet electric toothbrush. The device features a macro lens capable of capturing approximately 100,000 pixels across a one-millimeter-by-one-millimeter area. This hardware provides a live feed to a connected app, allowing users to observe their brushing technique in real time. The toothbrush is expected to become available in Israel during the first half of 2027.

Dyson employs approximately 14,000 people worldwide, including 6,000 engineers, and sells products in 85 markets. The company maintains its headquarters in Singapore and conducts research and innovation activities in the UK. Turner said Dyson views Israel as an attractive market because of the local population's strong interest in technology. The new Glilot store provides Israeli consumers with interactive displays and live demonstrations of these devices.
