Samsung is reportedly preparing to put one more foldable on sale this year, and a new leak suggests it is close. According to the leaker Ice Universe, the Galaxy W27 is due to launch on October 29, just days after this article's date of October 23.

The leaker shared an image of the device, which appears to be a specially styled foldable. It has a glossy blue back, with gold accents around the triple-camera array.

The Galaxy W27 would continue a yearly Samsung tradition of releasing China-only variants of its Galaxy foldables. Each generation has typically come with extra flair, and often elaborate packaging. In practice, the Galaxy W series is a rebranded version of whatever Samsung's top foldable happens to be that year.

There has been one exception. In 2024, the Galaxy Z Fold 6 Special Edition received a broader release. It served as a stepping stone ahead of what the source describes as Samsung's major leap with the Galaxy Z Fold 7.

For 2026, the top model is the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra, and the specifications attached to the new device match it. The design also lines up with that model.

Samsung following its usual pattern is not itself a surprise. What stands out is the choice of base model. The W27 is built on the Ultra rather than the standard Galaxy Z Fold 8, which has a new shape that is clearly resonating with customers.

Wide-format foldables are also gaining ground in China. Xiaomi's latest foldable has virtually the same form factor, and Huawei has been releasing wide foldables for longer than any other maker.

The leak lands amid broader attention on Samsung's foldable lineup. Samsung has reiterated that the Galaxy Z Fold 8 is a hit, and says the iPhone Duo has put a spotlight on it. Analysts have also said foldable display shipments are set to increase by 44% in 2026 as wide foldables arrive. Samsung has additionally updated several Galaxy devices to Android 17.

Samsung has a number of new foldables planned for next year, but the W27 would be the last of this one if the leaked date holds.
