Community organizations across Charlotte County are preparing for a busy mid-November calendar featuring fundraising galas, musical performances, and outdoor market events. These gatherings aim to support local causes, including youth substance prevention, Alzheimer's research, and library programs, while providing social activities for residents.

The Englewood Community Coalition and Englewood Creative Arts will host a Southern Nights Fundraising Gala on November 14. The event is scheduled from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Rotonda Hills Golf & Country Club in Englewood. The evening program includes a happy hour, casino games, dancing, and a live auction. Attendees can enjoy Southern cuisine and an open bar. The coalition will use the funds raised to support its efforts in preventing youth substance use.

Music lovers can attend the Charlotte County Jazz Society events at Sunseeker Resort in Port Charlotte. The society is hosting a free Wine Around event on November 5 and 6. Live jazz performances will take place across the resort from 6 to 10 p.m. Guests can sample food and wine pairings from Trinchero and Foley Family Wines. On November 7, the society will present Serenade & Supper in the ballroom from 5 to 9:30 p.m. Tickets for that dinner event cost $149 and include a four-course meal, wine pairings, and dancing.

Health and wellness activities are also scheduled for the second half of the month. The GFWC Rotonda West Woman’s Club is organizing the Charlotte County 2026 Walk to End Alzheimer’s. The walk will take place on November 14 at Broadmoor Park in Rotonda West. Registration begins at 8:30 a.m., and the walking portion starts at 9 a.m. Participants can register or donate through the American Alzheimer's Association website.

For shoppers and vendors, the eighth annual Great Garage Sale is set for November 21 at Charlotte Sports Park in Port Charlotte. Admission for shoppers is free. Vendors can rent a 10-by-10-foot space for $20 or a 20-by-20-foot space for $30. Registration closes on November 7. A Community Yard Sale will also occur on November 7 at the City Center Front Green in North Port. Vendor spaces cost $20, with table rentals available for an extra $10. This event coincides with North Port Newcomer Day at the Morgan Family Community Center.

Local women’s clubs are hosting holiday bazaars to benefit local charities. The Rotonda West Community Center will host a bazaar on November 7 from 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. The Lemon Bay Woman’s Club will hold its annual bazaar on November 13 and 14 at its historic clubhouse on N. Maple St. in Englewood. Both events will feature handcrafted items, baked goods, and raffles. The Lemon Bay clubhouse is listed on the National Register of Historic Places, and proceeds will help with its upkeep.

Residents can also find volunteer opportunities and professional advice through local groups. The Friends of the Mid-County Regional Library are recruiting volunteers for their bookstore in Port Charlotte. Volunteers need to work three hours a week. Meanwhile, trained master gardener volunteers from the University of Florida IFAS are available to answer gardening questions at the Centennial Park Recreation Center. They staff the office on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 1 to 4 p.m.
