Detective Superintendent Melanie Pressley confirmed on Saturday that a manhunt for Anthony Lloyd is active across London. Pressley, who leads the search operation, stated that officers are conducting inquiries to locate the 38-year-old and return him to custody. Police described Lloyd as posing a risk to both himself and the public.
Lloyd forced his way out of a health unit in Lewisham shortly after 4 p.m. on Friday. He was last seen at 4.10 p.m., heading in the direction of Catford. At the time of his escape, he was wearing a grey-blue T-shirt, black tracksuit bottoms, and white trainers. Police describe him as white, with short dark hair, a medium build, and a height of 5 feet 8 inches.
The Metropolitan Police have instructed the public not to approach Lloyd if they see him. They ask witnesses to call 999 immediately and quote the reference CAD4739/23Oct. Pressley urged anyone with information, no matter how small, to contact police as a matter of urgency.
Lloyd was convicted in 2025 of actual bodily harm. The crime occurred in Nottinghamshire and involved three emergency services workers. He received a 12-month custodial sentence. In September, he was transferred from prison to the medical facility in Lewisham.
Officers believe Lloyd could be anywhere in the capital. The search has expanded to include six other regions where police say he has links. These areas are Surrey, Sussex, Thames Valley, Hampshire, Nottinghamshire, Derbyshire, and Merseyside.
The force issued a statement on Saturday detailing the scope of the search. They emphasized the urgency of finding Lloyd given his current location and recent movement. The reference number for the case is CAD4739/23Oct.
